Mitchell - Oct 2019 - Cross Vent Robot Barn
This wide spread, 320’ x 220’ dairy barn really stands out in the Mitchell countryside. As you enter the barn you can admire the front offices, education room and hallway sporting the family name in the custom flooring. Built as a four-robot cross vent barn, with the possibility of future addition, showing how HFH always works with the customer to provide them with exactly what they want and need to be successful in the future.
This barn was built with the future of Canadian dairy farming in mind, giving ample space for those who want to see and learn about the dairy industry, with a unique training/education room off the main barn.
In the main barn are four Lely A5 robots, Lely brushes and sand bedding for ultimate cow comfort and longevity. On the far end of the barn there is a fully automatic 60’ x 100’ feed kitchen, attached through a connecting link. In here, you find a Lely Vector automatic feeding system; a crane with grapples selects the necessary ingredients, loading it in the mixing/feeding robot that moves from the feed kitchen through out the entire barn.
In the front of the barn, there is a fully separate calf nursery with manure pit under the calves; the pit ventilation results in dry straw and high air quality at all times. A robotic calf feeder keeps the calves happy and well fed.
